Connectivity Alert Email - Interface Names

Hello,

By default, the notification emails regarding a disconnected or degraded socket interface include the public IP address of the interface under "Interface Name". This does not match the port name in the socket configuration panel. Is it possible to modify this email template to include the descriptive name instead of, or ideally in addition to, the public IP address? This would be extremely helpful for quickly identifying which ISP is impacted. Not all network engineers have every single public IP in the company committed to memory!

  • I am in total support of this! I have been asking for the inclusion of the Port Name in these alerts for some time.

Starting out with a few sites having 2-3 ISPs connected it quickly becomes difficult to keep track of. Now with more than 14 sites it is essentially impossible to know which carrier is having issues without logging in to the CMA, which in turn requires you to grab your computer because it does not work well on mobile browsers and there is not app.

Cato has made lots of truly great progress, but there is some low-hanging fruit quality of life items that would make a big difference to users.

    Let's get this up voted!

    hi aekcmi

I was just looking through some of the conversations everyone has been having and came across this convo - could you copy this into an idea on the Idea Hub ? Would love to get it in front of more customers and the team :) Thank you

      Hi yumdarling,

I would just like to emphasis what a BIG deal this would be. aekcmi I too have been asking for this for several years.

The more sites we bring online the more useless the IP addresses become. I am often only available via my mobile device after hours and with no current Cato Mobile App for the CMA, getting an email with an IP doesn't mean a whole lot. I often find myself having to get my laptop out to look up details of the site to start reaching out to providers etc...

Any visibility that we can get on this that could lead to the template being edited  would be great!

      Thank you both!

I hear you! Can you find this idea on the Idea Hub (I'm scared to share the link haha) and vote it up and add this comment? We want to get traction on the ideas so we can show the team that this is meaningful :)

Very strange - I can see it logged in as me (but I have godlike powers), but i can also see it when I log in as you (using said powers). You're obviously logged in... can you try one more time for me? https://connect.catonetworks.com/category/top/ideas/idea-hub

  • 100% support this.  At the moment it is not possible.

We have been asking for years to be able to customise the alert emails so we can see what is relevant.

Not just for this type of alert, but when we get FW alert emails they are missing lots of fields we would want to see, and include many fields which are of no use to us.

We have no clue either from memory as to which of our public IP relates to which office - and your suggestion of including the WAN link description is good.

    e.g.

Interface Name: Virgin Media (WAN1) 92.123.123.3
